Forgive all the pictures, but I'm trying to catch up here, and isn't a picture worth a thousand words? We spent a glorious 4 day weekend at Sapelo with Da for Easter. This pic is the girls first official beach day of 2011. They picked up over 100 sand dollars for their Onion Festival project. (More on that later).
Waters still just a little cool, but they'd found the mother load of olive shells, so it was worth it. They picked up 9 or 10 in that one spot, just waiting for the waves to come and go. Ms Mary was SO jealous! She's only found 2 in the 8 weeks she's been on the island. But, the girls fealt guilty and ended up sharing with her ~
Poor little starfish had lost a leg, but if you look REAL close... it's already growing back ~
LOVE my family! Not exactly sure what they're planning here, but I'm sure it's legal ~
Okay. Technically, it's legal. This is a bouy marker from Gray's Reef Fish Sanctuary. It broke free on it's own, and has been beached at the hidden beach on Sapelo for 9 months or so. So, being the environtmentally conscious people we are... we "claimed" it, in the dark of night, of course. It's currently making it's way to Gould's Landing where it will be an interesting addition to our "Yard Art". Can't wait for it's arrival!
Okay. This was something new. When we went to hit the ferry on Monday, this rather large vessel was in the "parking lot". It's a Princess Cruise from Deleware, I believe Da said. It makes it's way down the eastern seaboard making stops all along the way at different ports and islands of interest, and that day was a tour of Sapelo. Neat. I think I'd like to do that, in reverse. Maybe pick it up in Florida somewhere, and tour up to, say, Maine, etc.
Again, LOVE my Da! I don't think he was any more ready for us to leave than we were to leave... See you soon, Da!
