Labor Day Weekend

Wayne and I went on down to the coast Thursday night, getting up Friday and getting the swing "mounted" (Whew! What a job!) before Wayne had to be on the road working at noon. Pepe' and I enjoyed an afternoon on the bluff by ourselves, just reading and relaxing. Friday night saw Tyler, the Howards and Wayne come in before the girls came in from the football game (Tattnall won, if you're interested).

Saturday, we had "an itenerary". (LOL! Sorry, HJB. Love ya!) The Mobleys and Howards gathered with the Baxters and Harris' at Clyde's early for breakfast, got a quick visit in with Bubba Buck, Bob and Harry while we were there, before heading back to Gould's to get boats in and packed and headed to St Catherine's for a great day of sun and fun.

Horns blew (LOL!) and we loaded up about 2, headed back for baths, then met back up and made the trip to the Buccaneer Club for supper. We ended up with only 3 boats, but had a party of 21 before we quit. Supper was WONDERFUL, but the boat ride back was the best. Wayne and Stacy were trying to set some kind of speed record going over, and the trip was only 25 minutes, but coming back was leasurely, watching the beautiful pink sunset, and took us the regular 40 minutes or so.

Sunday morning found us headed to the sounds for some giant Georgia whites (shrimp that is). Megan gave quick lessons on the dock, and Monica and Dalton were a quick study, for sure. Dalton even had the catch of the day ~ a nice size sheephead! LOL! We got a picture before he kissed him, and let him go. We were after shrimp, after all. We spent a couple of hours out there, with the kids bringing us in a good mess, 4 meals of 80, plus a 50 count bag for Monica. Not bad for nearly missing the tide (yeah, Megan hasn't stopped poking her daddy about that either). Plans are to hit it again in a couple of weeks. Sure would like to see my freezer full of shrimp!

When the shrimping kinda died down, we headed over to the north tip of Blackbeard for some floating. Wayne has decided that having these "boys" around isn't all bad. "Hey, boy, tote that anchor out just past where you can touch. I don't care how cold the water is!". LOL! Poor Tyler. But, he'll survive.

It was a little cool. So, we loaded boats back up and headed out. And I mean OUT. Now, I haven't been on the "outside" but a few times in my life. It just wasn't something we did. Well, one thing, we never had a boat big enough to feel comfortable, I guess. But, it was such a nice calm day, we took out. We went 9 miles out, all the way to the "S" can. When we stopped I asked Wayne, "So, is this where we're dumping the body?" Tyler got a real spooked look about him... LOL! He wasn't real comfortable with the whole thing, just kept talking about the lack of trees, etc. LOL! Well, in his defense, Monica wasn't real cool with it either. Well, she didn't mind the being out there part, it was when we all JUMPED IN! You just can't believe how clean and clear the water was. It was amazing the difference from our inland water! I could see the girls toes, and the prop on the motor. It was that clear, that far down. Beautiful! And maybe phychological, but seemed the salt content was higher. Your bouancy seemed greater. I don't know, but definately something I'd like to do again. And, maybe next time take some bait and tackle. LOL!

Today found us packing and cleaning. Wayne had to work again at noon, and Megan and I tried to buy a washing machine on the way home, to no avail. Anyway, got one ordered and should be washing again by NEXT Saturday. So, if you see us, and there's a little stain or wrinkle. Please, just over look. LOL!

Tried to touch base with my daddy last night, but he was off with Michael. Will try again tonight. Hope all is well. Haven't heard much out of him, but then again, he's had big weddings two weekends in a row. Love ya, Da!
