Can you believe it? Us either! I don't know who those girls were we had in Blackshear yesterday. That has always been the running joke with our team... you never know which team will show up to play. The ball players, or the bad news bears. Well, let me tell you nothing but ball players showed up yesterday. We were all SO proud! There was some small drama before leaving the school, but somewhere along the way, it was lost, and it was ON!
That's Jessica laying down the PERFECT bunt as they played Appling at 11 am, and it was the single most exciting, stressful game I think I've ever witnessed. Appling lost their head coach in the 4th inning when she was ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct, but Tattnall finally lost in a triple tie-breaker in the 10th inning (we only play 7 usually) after 2 hours and 45 minutes and a horrendously bad call by the Ref calling a baulk on our catcher, walking in Applings winning run. WE WERE ROBBED! There is no disputing Ref calls in this league, but several other teams' coaches expressed their displeasure, and a calls have been put in to see that that Ref no longer works in our region. It was incredible!
After a brief respite, Tattnall played Charlton County at 4 and won, then Brantley County at 8 and won putting us in the top 4 and giving us a trip to the state championships in October. So, guess what? Our softball careers aren't over yet... Not sure of my reaction to that just yet, but will keep you posted.... SO ~ practice Monday, 5pm, then Tuesday back to Blackshear to face Jeff Davis County and finish out the region tournament.
