Friday was a blur. The girls had doctor's appointments, so we were off to Savannah, and managed a little school shopping, too. Our favorite nurse also clued us in on a new consignment shop in Richmond Hill called The Pink Closet. Let me just say "WOW". The girls loaded up, and when I get a few pennies saved up, I'm going back to get that Coach purse. Everything is big name brands, and she doesn't take anything but gently used, and we popped in on her 50% off sale. Again, WOW! We will definitely be making that a regular stop. Oh, and Chick, she probably had 30 or more VB purses and at least that many wallets, none over $25. http://thepinkclosetonline.com/. Our next stop was a regular, Plato's Closet. When we left there, between the 2, the girls are set for a while, and we came home with a trunk full of American Eagle, Hollister, etc. for less that $200. Well, not factoring the stop at Best Buy for my new bedroom tv. Yeah! CSI and I can finally re-connect! While we were gone, Wayne made a run to the high school to pick up our coke order which had come in early. And he and I delivered while the girls went to the 1st scrimmage football game of the year. Thanks, everyone, for your orders and support of the girls softball team!
Saturday, the girls started with an 8 am ball practice that turned into 2. They missed the departure of the Corvette. Yeah, it's gone already... sniff, sniff. Really hated to see it go, but know it was the right thing to do. The girls got home about 3, showered and changed and were off with Corey to Hinesville to meet a friend of Jessica's, Jeffrey, for movies and Krystal. They actually beat us home. Wayne and I, taking a hint from the Howard's took off for St Simons to find a new place to eat to celebrate our anniversary this week. I'd done a quick search before we left home and kinda decided on a place, if we could find it. Well, my bloodhound hubby went straight to it, and it was fantastic! It's called Bennie's Red Barn, and it literally is, but it's also the oldest privately owned restaurant on SSI. It's a casual atmosphere (as we don't get dressed up for much of anything), and the waiter's recite the menu to you, and write nothing down. Really old school, (and family friendly BTW) ~ they advertised the steak, which is hand cut on site and oak wood grilled in the kitchen. Wayne and I both had ribeye with fried shrimp appetizer, and let me again say "WOW". Ya'll know I love steak, right? Well, this was one of the best I've ever eaten. You could taste the oak wood flavor. It was fantastic! Like everything on SSI, it was a little pricey (the bill for 2 was @ $70), but it is definitely a place we'll revisit for special occasions. So, if you get down that way, you want to give it a try. They also advertise a homemade apple pie, which I wanted to try, but just couldn't hold it. http://www.benniesredbarn.com/. After, we rode around the island, visited the lighthouse & pier. Then ended up at the public boat ramp on the back side of the island. The kingfish tournament was Saturday, and let me just say, we stood, in the drizzling rain and watched all those 30-40 foot, twin and tripple engine boats load on trailers backed down the ramp like they were Willie Harris boats at the Altamaha. It was awesome! We are so easily entertained ~
Gonna lay around today, hopefully. Not feeling really great. Wayne is gonna get my oil changed after lunch, then maybe a 4-wheeler ride in between rain showers. But, not much else... 'course they'll probably expect supper cooked, but maybe I can handle that by then LOL.

Next time you are in St Simons try Blackwater Grill. It's in the Red Fern Village and AWESOME!! You can't go wrong with anything on teh menu!!!
ReplyDeleteI will need to check out the place in Richmond Hill. Where is Plato's closet in Savannah? I've heard about it and always wanted to check it out.
