Our "Stay"cation ~

We've been SO busy with all that a high school senior and college freshman year entails, and building "the condo", and everything else, we decided to have (thank you Tara) a "Stay"cation this year. So, July 29th, we headed to Gould's Landing, not to return until just yesterday. Just in time to ready for a grueling work week ahead. Excuse all the pics, but a picture IS worth a thousand words... Da and Grandma were at Barbour Island with Matthew and the Dennis G Baxter's, so when we got down on Thursday, we went ahead and put the boat in and headed over for a quick visit while they low-country-boiled. Looked yummy, but we just couldn't fit it in, as we'd hit the Mickey D's on the way out of town ~

Friday was our 22nd anniversary. We went back over to Barbour for a visit. Well, actually we watched Linda and Syb clean and pack as they were headed home. We followed them back to the dock, just to make sure they made it (sorry, Da). LOL! And, after they cleaned up and headed out, we cleaned up and headed over to St Simons for some Outback to commemorate the old anniversary. YUM!

My days tend to run together, but we hit Blackbeard for some fun in the sun, only weren't there any more than 5 minutes before we were loaded back in the boat. Seems the jellyfish were targeting that particular beach, and everybody but me was stung, Megan taking the brunt of it, I'm afraid ~

So we stopped back at the pool at Barbour for our swim. Thanks to Ronnie and Lynn for that access, and more importantly, the ice. They have a "rat turd" ice machine, and we took bags, and hauled back a freezer full, that lasted us the rest of the week. Thanks, ya'll! We'll be utilizing that particular service again ~

On Monday, we ran into Darien to piddle. Had lunch at BJ's, checked on the little boat, etc. Tuesday, we hit St Simons and wandered the Village, had lunch at Spanky's, with more piddling. Wednesday found us fishing ~

Wayne caught the first big trout. He was SO very pretty ~
Jessica picked her up a blowfish ~

Oh, and a spot-tailed bass... Not sure how Tyler's gonna react to the lip usage there ~ LOL! She was doing the Roland Martin, thank him and release him technique. He was just a LITTLE bit too short.

The neatest thing that day was the huge water spouts (aka tornado) off the north tip of Blackbeard... And we never got wet ~

Thursday was more fishing, though the wind had picked up and the fish had slowed down. We took the girls back early so they could head into Hinesville to meet Corey and Tyler for movies and such. Wayne and I took that opportunity to hit Ms Speed's for supper. Fried shrimp, crab stew and stuffed flounder. Whew~ we did have a little otter friend wondering around trying to figure out what we were doing. Wish I could have been a quicker shot and got a better picture of him. He'd move all around, peeking over the tops of the shell rakes.

We got in a lot of reading, since DarienTel didn't get our cable and phone hooked up until Friday. But, that was okay, too. I think we all enjoyed the quiet time ~

Even Pepe' was just plain pooped ~

I wasn't feeling particulary well yesterday, so Wayne and the girls went back out fishing while Pepe' and I stayed in and cleaned up and prepared us to come home. We figured we'd need a day of rest at home before facing a full work week. The fish just weren't biting yesterday because of the fresh water from the storm Friday night. Mostly shark and other trash fish, but Megan didn't seem to mind~

They even ran outside in the ocean to the number 5 can and checked things out. Think that'll be our next fishing adventure... Well, guess I'd better get busy with some clothes and cleaning. Glad to be back... NOT!
