Monroe Crossing

Wayne, like me, has no musical abilities. But, that doesn't stop him from loving to watch and listen, and he absolutely loves bluegrass. We have a friend of an uncle who runs Randy Wood's Guitar Shop ( http://www.randywoodguitars.com/ ), who also built The Pickin Parlor next door. Last year, when searching for something for Wayne's birthday, I came across Randy's website advertising a bluegrass group coming to the parlor. I hit on their site and listened to some snip-its. They sounded good, so I got us 4 tickets. One thing I can say about Randy's shows are the tickets prices are VERY reasonable, usually around $20. So, off we go ~ They were fantastic! The Pickin Parlor is a very small space, with great accoustics, and we were sitting, like, nearly ON stage, so you can see every move of their fingers on their instuments, and every facial expression, etc. GREAT!

Wayne has been talking about that experience all year, so when I got Randy's e-mail that Monroe Crossing (http://www.monroecrossing.com/ ) was coming back, I called and got us 6 tickets, and we took Da and Syb along last night. I can honestly say I haven't seen my daddy have that great of a time in YEARS. It was wonderful! At intermission, we spoke with the bass player some, and found out they'll be back at Randy's again around this time next year, so we've already got it on the calendar. Hey, maybe we can increase our numbers again next year!

This, of course, wasn't from last night, but they did do this song that the bass player, Mark wrote. Thought you might enjoy ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEYLUWPzjek.
