Trouble Makers

Boy! What an afternoon! Spent the morning at the G'ville office in a meeting. Broke for some Mi Plaza for lunch and get this text from Corey (Megan's BF). He's the only one that ever really texts me, and it's usually some malarky. So, when he said, "Guess what? Meg & Jess were caught drinking booze down the band hallway at school today." I laughed it off & responded with, "Whatever it takes to get through the school day, I guess." And left it at that.

Well. As soon as they hit the door, my desk phone was ringing. Apparently, "a concerned parent" called Dr McDaniel (the girls former softball coach and all around great guy) to report that their child had been coming home and telling them that the "cute twin seniors" came to school every day smelling of alcohol and dope. Now Dr McD knows my girls very well, and us as well. Thankfully. But, with any report, it must be investigated.

In steps Arnie (I feel so safe) Jones. He finds the girls in the hallway with Corey and several other friends in conversation and pulls them out for a tet-a-tet. There again, Arnie also knows my girls and Corey well enough, and sees them and is around them daily, so he knew there wasn't anything there either, but did his job, and moved on.

Now initially, I was TICKED. But, after much thought, have come to realize that I have GREAT girls that, other than being at each other's throats, constantly, behave themselves very well, and know right from wrong. Don't get me wrong. I know they aren't perfect, but honestly ~

So far, this has been one hellacious year. With the softball drama, added to normal Senior stress. Geez! But, they've also come in telling me of drug sales under the table in their classroom (in which nothing was done). Drug sales in the parking lot (again, nothing). Preps lying about staying at friends houses and getting drunk and passing out on a regular basis. Rumors of parents buying beer for their underage kids to drink at home with their friends. And the list goes on and on...

Now, it hasn't been that long, and I'm not THAT old. I remember some of the shenanegans we pulled and were lucky to have lived through. And I'd like to formally appologize to my father, whom I'm sure now of what happened to his hair. All I can say folks is ~ LORD, LEAD US ALL THROUGH IT SAFELY. Oh, and Charity... God help you! These two are all I can handle. I can't imagine doing it over and over again. Just when you get one through the teen mess... there will be 6 more to follow. LOL!

  1. Awwww... the joys of parenting! I remember the teen years all too well. I can only pray that God will get us through w/ everyone still breathing and with my sanity.
