Saying Farewell to Mrs Turtlee

She was a good ole girl. She joined our family some 4 or 5 years ago at the size of a half-dollar. As you can see, she's grown quite a bit, and is no longer happy in her tank, constantly trying to escape. So, the girls took her out to a local pond that we know is a turtle haven, and released her with much sadness... They say she sank straight to the bottom, sat there a few minutes, then stuck her head up and looked at the girls for a minute, seeminly saying goodbye and thanks, then swam away to meet her new besties. Best of luck, Mrs Turtlee! We enjoyed having you ~

  1. We have a turtle that we got Easter Sunday. My aunt waded out into a pond to get him, b/c she thought the kids needed a pet turtle. His name is Leo... short for Leonardo, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. He was the size of a half-dollar, but now he's bigger than the palm of my hand. I'm not looking forward to the day that he has outgrown his tank. It will be a sad day for the Hillians.
