Weekend's almost over... again.

Where do they go? It seems just when you get settled in Friday night, it's Sunday night and you've got to make plans for the new week... The girls had a ball game in Baxley yesterday at noon. So, kinda tore the day up. The lost 5-0, not a beat-down, but could have been better. My girls are still being denied positions. That sounded bad, but let me finish... I know my girls aren't Olympic athletes or anything, but they've been varsity starters for the last 2 years. Now, all of a sudden, all they can do is keep the bench clean with their butts. We try not to be THOSE parents, and let them handle their own business, especially with the new coaching situation. But, coach brags on them at practice, telling them how great they're doing and how aggressively they're going after their positions, then come game time, nothing. I've talked with McDaniel (previous coach/now vice-principal), who, in not so many words, said she wasn't playing them because they also participate in marching band. Now, they haven't missed a practice or game, but she's penalizing them ahead of time because they might? Yeah, that's school spirit. When the girls have talked with her about it, she just tells them to be more aggressive at practice. However, when another girl asked why the Mobs weren't playing, she told her it was because they were participating in band... Lord, help me get through these last 2 weeks without losing my cool, please ~

When we got home from Baxley, I needed to run into Savannah for some birthday shopping, so Jessica, Megan & Corey went with me. We had a great trip and came home successful. This afternoon, Coach is having all the girls to her place at the lake outside Baxley to ride jet skis and tubes, etc. You know, a bonding afternoon. They're looking forward to it, and I hope they have a great time. We've had another couple of key players quit this week, which makes us WAY more vulnerable on the field, but WAY less stressed in the dugout/bus/locker room. If they don't win another game, at least they'll have more fun ~

I think Wayne and I are going to take a ride on the 4-wheelers if they rain will hold off. Maybe see some of ya'll on our rounds... Have a great week!

  1. Jane, Good luck with holding your tongue with the coach. I've learned lately that when it comes to our kids (no matter how old they get) it's hard to be slow to anger and not quick with my tongue. I'm sure the girls are disappointed with not playing and your right they shouldn't be penalized because they "might" miss a game.
