Vacation

We started our vacation on Sapelo for the Masonic kids beach trip, as I said. We stayed through Monday before heading home to unpack, wash and re-pack for Tuesday morning we headed to Atlanta to White Water. We had a great time. It's such a great water park because there are so many slides and things to do, and lots of shade so it's not too hot. The lines were a little long, but well worth the wait. Sorry, no pix from White Water. Didn't want to risk my camera.

We spent the night in Marietta, and got up Wednesday morning and headed to the GA Aquarium. WOW! It was something! Now, grant it, we see a LOT of these animals nearly every time we go to the coast, but something about the aquarium environment... had to pry the girls away from the touch tank. I think they visited there 5 or 6 times in all. They were also fascinated by the beluga whales, and spent a great deal of time there as well. We got to see the Titanic exhibit. I was in awe. Just seeing those actual artifacts they'd pulled from the depths after all these years, and imagining what the person who'd owned them had lived through and what their life might have been like before that fateful trip. Wow. We also got to see the 3-D Save the Ocean show. It was a cartoon, however well done. But, the highlight of this show was that Wayne could actually see it! He's color blind, you see, and never before when we've been to 3-D things, could he see any difference. I guess the glasses have come a long way, huh? We finished at the aquarium in time for a very late lunch at Cheddar's in Macon before heading on home to, again, un-pack, re-pack and pick up the dog before heading down to Mema's coast house for the rest of the week/weekend. How great! We had a little boat tire trouble Thursday, but it was okay. While Wayne worried and fixed, the girls and I rested and relaxed from all our travels. We did get a little late day sandbar time at the Redneck Riviera before heading in to shower and off to Ms Speed's for supper. WONDERFUL! Wish I had another plate of fried shrimp tonight!

On Friday, the girls had to come back to Glennville for Rookie Band Camp, so Wayne and I fished all day, or attempted to. The wind was blowing so strong, it was useless, but we sure enjoyed sitting in the river and killing time. Had a little excitement... Wayne had slipped off the back of the boat to cool off in the water, but left his line in. Meanwhile, me, in the front of the boat caught a 18 inch black tip shark. I held him on the line, while Wayne got back in the boat, lest he be ticked off and take it out on Wayne. Well, as Wayne was climbing back in, his rod took off with a HARD hit. He managed to get in and fight it to get it to the boat... a 3 foot hammer head! Now, I know they're always swimming there around us, but that put it a little close to home for me.

The girls came back down after camp, and brought Megan's boyfriend, Corey, with them for the rest of the weekend. So, Saturday, we introduced him to some fishing, since Megan said he's never touched a live fish, like in fishing. Well, he did. He wasn't real excited about the whole experience, but he did it. The fishing was crappy, and we ended up letting them out at Blackbeard for some surf time, before rushing to beat the storm back to Contentment.

Sunday was pure relaxation. We pulled the kids on the tube a while before heading back to the sandbar to float and soak. The kids, of course hit the mud first, before playing a little water Frisbee, then talking Wayne into being a 4th and playing chicken... boy that was a site!

Anyway, we're back to the grind.... 2 days back to work. Stinks! But, makes you look forward to the next few days you get off.

Oh, and I have pics would like to post, but blogger won't let me add the slide url for some reason... anybody have a clue?
