Masonic Kids Beach Trip

Goodness! 17 years, I believe this year... We've sure seen a lot of kids go through the Home, and what wonderful, and sometimes heart wrenching stories they have to tell... This year's trip came off without a hitch. Once again, we made the treck from the Masonic Camp at Shellman to Sapelo. This year, the north end was closed due to the rain and high tides washing out some roads and culverts, so all 13 boats touched and dumped their loads at the Marsh Landing ferry dock, then anchored in the river. It was different, but not a major deal. Da had arranged for a couple of buses, as usual, and off to Nannygoat Beach for a day of fun in the sun. Seemed like everyone had a great time, no injuries or broken boats, and they reversed order and were back at Shellman by about 4:30 for the dispensing of the t-shirts. Da rode back to Shellman with Wayne, then back to Sapelo where we spent a couple of extra days. Just got in, matter of fact, and off to the ATL in the morning. Whew! I'll need to go back to work to rest!

This is one of the Home's Seniors, Amy (and Cricket), who will be attending Central GA Tech in Macon in the fall to be an EMT. GO AMY!! She's been in the Home since she was 9, and is quick to thank the Masons and their families for the opportunities she's been afforded. Another success story~ The kids rotate out at the camp all summer, and some will be there for another couple of weeks. If you get a chance to stop by, or for Heaven's sake, to stop in at the Home in Macon, please do so. It will truly touch your heart and the open, loving atmosphere and these kids personalities.
