We had a great weekend. Wanted to make sure I at least got to see my daddy on father's day, and he was booked (Tammy and Trey were supposed to be over there, didn't happen) and he had a wedding all weekend. Found out last minute that Mema's coast house was vacant, so Friday we loaded up and pulled out. Low tide was mid-day, so we spent the day, literally, at the sand bar. The Howard's came down for the day, and it was WONDERFUL! Can't wait for another sand bar day. You can just feel your blood pressure going down and your heart rate nearly stopping from contentment... Hey, maybe that's where the name came from. Contentment Bluff. Anyway, got up and going Sunday morning and rode over to Da's for a little visit. Found him in his office, gritting his teeth and smiling as the last of the wedding party/guests were paying their bill and buying souvenirs. There were quite a few who needed special trips to get them off the island for whatever reason they couldn't wait on the ferry run, and Da ended up letting Wayne make 3 trips and picking up a few dollars along the way. Paid for the whole weekend, and he got to run his boat... How could that be bad? We both reminded Da to tell us when there are these weekends so we can come help him... but, he never does. He can do it all, you know, and won't ask for help ~
He and Sybil went in to Savannah and took the trolley tour we had given them for Christmas. It was the on and off tour that you take at your own pace. Said it was real nice and they got to have lunch at the Pirate's House. We're always at such a loss for Christmas gifts for them, and happen to think of this gift certificate to get them off the island and have some relaxing time together, instead of working all the time. Only took them 6 months to take it in. Not bad... Wish he'd take more time off, but understand, too. Brear Rabbit in the brier patch, and all.
Anyway, came screeching in to G'ville about 6 o'clock, needing to be at the funeral home for visitation between 6 and 8. All four of us showered and ready in 45 minutes, some kind of record, I'm sure. And made it by 7, not bad. Our friend, Dennis Wilkins' dad, Earl "Squirrel", passed away over the weekend, so please say a prayer for Dennis and Ethan as they deal with the loss of not only a dad/grandad, but mostly a friend.
And today was yet another Monday at DFCS. They come too frequent, but are quickly followed by the rest of the week, and get us to Friday. So, I guess I'll make it. The girls are going to Leadership Camp at Heart of Georgia Technical College in Dublin Wednesday through Saturday. They were both chosen as section leaders for their particular sections in marching band and now have to learn how to teach others to march. Ever seen my "coordinated" children walk and talk? This should be interesting. Maybe I can get some good pix out of the deal.

Jane, you just need to become a teacher like the rest of us, and you will have part of your summer off and not have to worry about waitin' on Friday to get here!! :) Sounds like ya'll had a great weekend. We need to take the boys to the island one day. Daddy keeps telling me that he really wants to go see your Daddy and catch up on old times. :)
