I was just having a conversation (using the term loosely, as it was e-mail) about raising children. I've always heard "It takes a village to raise a child". Well, the older mine get, the more and more I believe it. We've raised the girls to respect themselves, and each other (that one takes a beating sometimes), as well as others. I feel like if they had a friend that needed some adult guidance or help and couldn't go to their parents, they'd bring them to us. I'm not of the philosophy that one should tattle to their parents, but rather help the child correct the problem/situation and help them learn from it. Nothing illegal or immoral, you know, just typical teenage angst situations. And I hope if they had something bothering them they didn't feel they could bring up to us, they'd find one of
ya'll. They have so many extended "aunts" and "uncles". Thank you all for your help through these difficult years.
Over the weekend, we saw some
worrisome stuff. Now, it hasn't been that long ago that we were teenagers ourselves, but it's
SOOO much worse when it's your children you're worried about. In the last few months, we've made some startling discoveries about our youth, but worse, some of their parents. So, I'm just saying, if you buy it for yours and are okay with them doing it, that's you and your legal and moral situation. But, if I ever find out you bought it for mine, or pushed it on them. I'd be looking over both shoulders and between your legs. 'Cause it's gonna get rough for you, very soon.
Thats enough of that. Just needed to vent a little. But, please folks, keep them all from harm. Well, must get going. Jessica & I are headed into Savannah for her rehearsal tonight... Whew!
